Our Method

The Classical, Christian Model

At GCA, our goals begin and end with Jesus Christ. We are not pragmatists; we set our sights beyond college or career readiness. Instead, we work in partnership with parents to develop each student as an image-bearer. Since each of our students is made in God’s image to reflect His glory forever, our primary concern is that they become men and women who bravely embody the virtues as revealed in Scripture: humility, charity, chastity, gratitude, temperance, patience, and diligence. We believe academic growth is both a byproduct and extension of these virtues.

The classical Christian method of education seeks to develop wise and eloquent men and women by providing a liberal arts educational program rooted in the truth of God’s word. GCA seeks to provide an education that cultivates both the mind and soul of each student in ways that enable them to grow into men and women who go into the world with a mindset to redeem their part of it for the glory of God.

The Great Conversation

Greenville Classical Academy students join students and thinkers from the past to discuss what humanity has deemed important and worthy of passing down to the coming generations. This interdisciplinary discourse—from oral histories to scholarly works, enduring literature, scientific discovery and the arts—enables students to learn from the past as well as engage with the present to interpret and discover new ideas for the glory of God. Classical, Christian education will utilize different methods, based upon students’ cognitive development, to draw students into this all-encompassing dialogue, engaging their curiosity, encouraging their intellectual growth, and challenging them to seek, find, and own truth from the perspective of Christ.

Biblical Integration

Classical, Christian education holds that the truth of Christ’s lordship is manifest in every area of study and every interpersonal relationship. Because everything we do is academic, it is important that God’s word is the foundation of all. As Christians, we maintain that God is the beginning and the end of everything we can know. Everything has unity in exactly one point—it was and is created and sustained by Jesus Christ. We integrate everything we do under this premise.

Our Community

Committed families covenanting together for their God-given responsibility

GCA believes a Christian, classical education can only be achieved through a true partnership with Christian families. As a covenental school, we acknowledge that the home, the church, and the school work in unison to present an education rooted in a distinctly Christian worldview to each student. In addition to partnering with GCA, each family is also partnering with the other families wanting the same education for their students, committing together for the glory of God.
