About GCA

Introduction

GCA was started and continues to exist to provide a distinctly classical, Christian, and covenantal education. We focus on equipping each student with the tools of biblical discernment and, in partnership with parents, assisting them in “bringing every thought captive” and thinking in Christian categories. Our academic programs are rooted in the life-changing, inerrant truths of the Gospel, and our students are flourishing in the classical tradition.

We are a growing school community: for the 2023-24 school year, over 200 Grammar students are enrolled alongside over 60 Logic students and 60 Rhetoric students.

Mission & Vision

The mission of Greenville Classical Academy is to provide a distinctly Christ-centered, biblical, and classical education, producing students who glorify God (Deum Glorificare) in their thoughts, words, and deeds.

Greenville Classical Academy’s vision is to see generations of Godly, biblically-educated, academically-prepared leaders for our homes, our communities, and our world.

New Campus

We moved to our new building, 400 Brookfield Parkway, Greenville, SC, 29607, for the start of the 2023-24 school year. With God’s help and sustaining grace, we plan for this building to become the cornerstone of an enduring campus and a blessing to the community around us.

History

GCA’s history would be incomplete without the mention of Providence Center for Classical Studies, which existed from 1994-2004. When PCCS closed in June of 2004, several PCCS parents began to discuss their desire to continue classical, Christian education in the Upstate of South Carolina. In God’s sovereignty, Greenville Classical Academy began serving fifty-four K5-8th grade students in the fall of 2004 on the campus of Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church. The school remained there through the fall of 2023 with the move to Brookfield Parkway in Mauldin. Now serving over 330 students from K4-12th grades, GCA continues to grow as parents choose to partner with us in their childrens’ education, and we are thankful for God’s gracious provision.

Admin, Faculty, & Board

The Administration, Faculty, and Staff of Greenville Classical Academy view their roles here as vocations. The ability to disciple young minds and hearts alongside parents is a weighty task, undertaken in the strength and joy of the Lord. Each one has a commitment to the classical, Christian educational model alongside an inner curiosity, love of learning, and mastery of their discipline—inspiring students to develop the same.

GCA’s Board of Governors is charged with ensuring that the school keeps to its Vision and Mission, and works within the community as well as on a broader scale to fund the school and ensure its stability for future generations of students. The Board is responsible for the hiring and development of one GCA employee, the Head of School.
