Upper School


The Upper School at GCA will be operating as a transitioning University-Model® School.  All classes will be taught college-style on MWF or TTh. The class schedule for 2010-2011 can be viewed by clicking here.

GCA will be hosting monthly University-Model Upper School informational meetings in the evening in November and January - August. Please join us to learn more about these exciting new changes. The Upper School informational meetings will be held in the choir room at GCA:

Upper School course offerings for 2010-2011 include the following:

  • Pre-Algebra (Saxon)
  • Algebra I (Saxon)
  • Geometry (Jacobs)
  • General Science (Apologia)
  • Biology (Apologia)
  • Medieval History (Omnibus)
  • Government [1st semester] (BJU Press)
  • Economics [2nd semester] (BJU Press)
  • Literature A (Novels, Shorts Stories, Poetry suitable for 7th or 8th grade) & Composition
  • British Literature & Composition
  • Spanish I (BJU Press)
  • Philosophy - Christian Worldview
  • Introductory Logic [1st semester]
  • Intermediate Logic [2nd semester]
  • Rhetoric - Public Speaking

Costs:

  • Application Fee: $25 for each student new to GCA (non-refundable). To apply as a new student, follow our enrollment process here.
  • Registration Fee: $50 annual fee per student regardless of how many classes are taken. For our Upper School class registration form, click here (PDF).
  • Tuition: $51 per month (for 10 months) for classes that meet 3 hours per week for both semesters and $51 per month (for 5 months) for classes that meet 3 hours per week for one semester.  $37 per month (for 10 months) for classes that meet 2 hours per week for both semesters.
  • Lab Fees: Biology - $20, General Science - $10

In addition to the above costs, families are responsible for:

  • textbooks, consumable workbooks, parallel reading and reference books
  • minimal fees for field trips
  • individual student supplies
  • school uniforms
A limited number of textbooks are available for rental. Contact the school office for availability and cost.

Home School Alliance - GCA seeks to come alongside parents who choose to home school. Many of our athletic opportunities are open to home schoolers, and beginning with the 2005-2006 school year, we opened our classes to home schooling students in grades seven and above who desire to take one or more of our classes.Students desiring to enroll in this program need to meet GCA admission requirements and agree to all policies and procedures outlined in the student/parent handbook.
